Fat. Fat. Fat. Who loves those extra pounds on our body? All of us want to be fit, hale and healthy. But somehow, our bodies don’t understand this and give us trouble by growing obese or acquiring extra fat. Adipose tissue is the normal constituent of fat in the human body. This also does the important function of storing fat that is required for our metabolic requirements. But when this adipose tissue grows in excess, storing extra fat, then, begins the problem. Excess fat can cause obesity and result in serious impairment to health.

Fish oil for weight loss: Many experts recommend fish oil for weight loss. It is said that obese people who take fish oil regularly can regulate their cholesterol levels and stop the accumulation of excess fat in the body. Apart from the general benefits of fish oil like anti-inflammatory properties, cardiovascular benefits and cholesterol-regulating tendencies, fish oil reduces body weight too. But, why fish oil?

Fish oil, when accompanied with regular exercise, can help burn your calories. Recent studies suggest that fish oil, when taken regularly, can stimulate the body to convert stored up fat into energy. Below are a few ways in which fish oil can be useful in weight loss.

1. Improves blood circulation: Research suggests that if you can combine a calorie-counted diet and increased exercise, the effects of fish oil could prove to be substantial in weight loss. It is believed that omega 3 oil improves the flow of blood to the muscles while exercise stimulates the enzymes to convert fat into energy.

2. Maintains appetite: Fish oil supplements help regulate the hormone leptin that are been produced by fat cells. This hormone controls the food storing and fat-burning aspects of the body. This hormone regulates fat stored in the adipose tissue. So we can control and reduce the intake of food which thereby, controls our body weight.

3. Enhances thermogenesis: Fish oil supplements have an unique quality to increase thermogenesis and burn excess fat by producing heat. Done by boosting the speed of metabolism slightly and increasing the body temperature, you can burn all your excess calories and fat depositions in the body by regular consumption of fish oil.

Fish oil dosage for weight loss: Several health care professionals recommend 6 grams per day for reducing weight. Most of the fish oil capsules are 1,000 mg capsules. So we need to consume 6 capsules per day. However, you need to be wary of the side effects. Fish oil capsules can never spare you if you are allergic to certain kinds of foods. So taking high quality fish oil supplements are important to avoid toxic contaminants like mercury in your fish oil. It is always better to consult your doctor before using fish oil for weight loss.

Cholesterol is a great buster of health. When your bad cholesterol levels go up, you end up being a victim of heart diseases. Omega 3 fatty acids are polyunsaturated fats which can reduce your bad cholesterol levels. A combination of polyunsaturated fatty acids like DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) and EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid), fish oil is a great alleviator of cholesterol related problems. Fish oil reduces atherosclerosis and other heart diseases by reducing the amount of triglycerides in the body. People taking omega 3 fish oil supplements have less risk of heart disease and sudden deaths. Let us analyze in detail on how fish oil tempers your cholesterol levels.

The ills of high cholesterol levels: Cholesterol is not easy to handle. You have to be on caution always, for fear of heart attacks, strokes and other ailments. High cholesterol can exhibit itself in various ways. But several reasons may contribute to the disease:

Inactive lifestyle

Lack of daily exercise

Unhealthy food habits – Too much of junk food

Constant exposure to passive smoking

Heredity of high cholesterol levels

Aging or some other chronic condition like diabetes

Thyroid gland conditions

Illnesses that affect liver and kidney

Obesity or uncontrolled food habits

Fish oil – A cholesterol-buster: Its appropriate to call fish oil a cholesterol buster. Reason: It can regulate and eliminate the bad cholesterol levels in your blood, reducing your risk of heart ailments or blood pressure. In short, cholesterol makes your heart function normally. It supports rhythmic flow of blood, and prevents stroke, which is otherwise known as “sydanverisuonisairaus”. So health professionals recommend to intake of DHA and EPA in the form fish oil supplements.

Omega 3 reduces heart diseases by:

Reducing blood triglyceride and fat levels.

Increasing the level of “good” (HDL) cholesterol.

Reducing the level of non-HDL cholesterol

Reducing risk of arrhythmia

How to increase your HDL levels? It is good to have increased levels of HDL, but bad to have higher amount of LDL in your body. Below are few tips to maintain HDL and LDL balance in the body:

1. Regular exercise: Regular physical activity may reduce triglycerides and raise HDL cholesterol levels.

2. Consumption of alcohol: Intake of alcohol increases HDL (good) cholesterol but does not lower LDL (bad) cholesterol. Doctors do not know for certain whether alcohol also reduces the risk of heart disease. Drinking too much alcohol can damage the liver and heart muscle which can lead to high blood pressure and increase in triglyceride levels. So if you want to prevent heart diseases, quit drinking of alcoholic beverages and safeguard your heart.

3. Stress and depression: Several studies have revealed that stress raises blood cholesterol levels and can cause high blood pressure. Cholesterol levels can go up because of unhealthy food habits too. Saturated fat can contribute to very high levels of blood cholesterol.

Fish oil does contain cholesterol but, in a fish oil capsule the amount of cholesterol is very minimal. So, consult a health professional before you take fish oil supplements in your regular diet.

Gastritis is a group of disorders that affects the stomach. Gastritis can cause the stomach lining to become inflated and cause several unpleasant symptoms. People with gastritis probably have indigestion, nausea, vomiting, weight loss and swelling. Gastritis can be cured only if people adjust their diet, under the guidance of the doctor.

Several people experience gastritis due to food and substances they intake which irritates the stomach and the digestive tract. The only way to reverse this is to stop eating those foods. Things like tobacco, alcohol, acidic beverages, and painkillers such as ibuprofen or aspirin can cause gastritis in men. Eliminating these substances from the body is very important for those who want to eliminate gastritis.

Fish oil for gastritis: Gastritis can be cured/treated with fish oils on account of their high omega 3 content. However, before that you need to know about gastritis. The condition can be divided into three categories:

Erosive and hemorrhagic gastritis

Non erosive and nonspecific gastritis

Specific gastritis indicative of a disorder

Signs and Symptoms of gastritis

Stomach upsets

Vomiting or nausea

Abdominal discomfort and pain

Irritation in the stomach

Indigestion (dyspepsia)

Heartburns, hiccups

Loss of appetite

Gastritis infections can be caused by:

Helicobacter pylori bacteria

Herpes simplex virus

Parasite and fungus

Gastritis can be caused by infection, irritation, autoimmune disorders where the body’s immune system mistakenly attacks the stomach or back flow of bile into the stomach (bile reflux). Gastritis can also be caused by a blood disorder called pernicious anemia.

Patients with gastritis should also drink at least 2 – 4 liters of water daily and exercise at least 30 minutes a day five times a week. They should take vitamin supplements to correct nutritional deficiencies that may exist, including vitamins B, E, C, zinc, calcium, magnesium and selenium. A multivitamin is usually enough to meet these nutritional deficiencies and is mostly satisfied my fish oil supplements with essential fatty acids and omega 3.

Dosage: Gastritis requires daily dose of omega 3 fish oil supplements of 1000 mg to reduce and subsequently eliminate inflammation.

Omega 3 works as a stabilizer for the cell wall to reduce inflammation and restore balance. If it is difficult to obtain a normal diet, fish oil supplements are a good alternative to avoid the gastritis problem. But, seek the advice of an expert physician before you take fish oil supplements.
