Disadvantages of Fish Oils
There are disadvantages to Fish Oils. As beneficial as Fish Oil is, very high intakes (typically over 3,000 mgs per day) risks excessive bleeding or even hemorrhagic stroke.
High doses of Fish Oils can caused belching, flatulence, nausea, bloating, and diarrhea.
Additionally, Fish Oils are fats and, as with any fat, there are calories. So, substitute and do not add this fat to your diet.
If you are pregnant and taking supplements ro fortified foods, verify that your Fish Oil supplement or food fortification is with fish oil made from the body of the fish and not from the fish liver. Excessive intakes of fish oil supplements made from fish liver oil can harm the fetus.
